Outflow Story by David and Debbie Eiss
An important ministry of The Vine is “Small Groups.” When we joined the Bible Study
which meets at the home of Brian and Tracy Teepell, we didn't know how much God would
use it in our lives.
Over the two years, we have enjoyed studying God's Word there, we have shared, cried
and laughed with the precious folks who meet there. The best part is always the prayer
time. There is something special knowing that your concerns can be brought before God
and discussed with those who are there.
We were riding our motorcycles to Bible Study on Tuesday, June 12, 2007. Debbie was
involved in an accident. God was in control. The accident occurred at the end of the
street where Harvey and Karen DeFries live. As Karen and Harvey headed to Bible Study
that evening, imagine their surprise when they saw me [David], and the ambulance taking
Debbie to the hospital.
As I finished talking to the police, Karen and Harvey headed to Bible Study. When they
arrived, our very special group called Pastor Christopher and went right to prayer. They
prayed for each area of our lives that they knew would be changing.
Pastor Christopher came to the hospital, arriving before our family members. The love
of our group did not stop there. They provided meals for our family which was a
tremendous gift.
Riding a motorcycle can be dangerous, but we are so thankful for God's love and
protection. Normally Debbie puts her cell phone in her seat, but on that day she put it
in her pocket. She broke her right arm in three places. The cell phone was demolished
from the impact of the fall, but it protected her from having a broken hip. The new
face shield which had just been attached the day before, protected her nose and face.
This was a very bad situation, but we are thankful that God is so good. We are grateful
to our Small Group for everything they did, but mostly we are thankful to God Who has
put this marvelous group together. Others are always welcome to join us. See you there!
